Wahl factor

Category: Forces & performance

A coefficient that corrects for the stress concentration on the inner face of the coil, where the wire is most loaded.

It depends on the spring index: Kw = (4C − 1)/(4C − 4) + 0.615/C. The lower the index, the higher the Wahl factor and the higher the real stress on the inner side of the wire.
